The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT):
80.001 | follows due process upon receipt of a written, signed complaint containing allegations which indicate that an accredited program, or program seeking accreditation, may not be in substantial compliance with the relevant accreditation standards or may not follow JRCERT accreditation policies. |

80.002 | acts only when practices or conditions indicate the program may not be in substantial compliance with the relevant accreditation standards or may not follow JRCERT accreditation policies. |
80.003 | following receipt of a written complaint, if a program has a scheduled site visit, designates the Chief Executive Officer, with consent of the Board Chair, to authorize investigation of said complaint by the site visit team without prior notification to the program of the specific allegations. |
80.004 | may conduct unannounced site visits, consistent with JRCERT Policy 11.600, Policy Statement 11.610. The program is responsible for the expenses associated with the unannounced site visit (e.g. accommodations, travel, meals), as well as a $2,500.00 consulting fee. |
Procedures
The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT):
80.001A | designates the Chief Executive Officer to facilitate investigation and resolution to determine if a complaint relates to program compliance with relevant accreditation standards or established accreditation policies. Investigation will not commence until all required documentation has been submitted by the complainant. |

i. If no, notifies complainant accordingly within twenty (20) business days following receipt of the complaint; | |
ii. If yes, acknowledges receipt of the allegations to the complainant within twenty (20) business days of its receipt and advises that the matter is being investigated. | |
80.001B | accepts only written, signed allegations of non-compliance with relevant accreditation standards or JRCERT accreditation policies by JRCERT-accredited programs or those seeking JRCERT accreditation. |
80.001C | maintains confidentiality of the complainant’s identity unless authorized to disclose said identity by the complainant or disclosure is required by legal process. |
80.001D | ensures that reasonable efforts have been made within the program or sponsor to resolve the complaint, unless such efforts, in the opinion of the JRCERT, would be nonproductive. |
80.001E | notifies the chief executive officer of the sponsor and the program director of the substance of the allegations and requires a written response to the complaint be submitted within thirty (30) business days following receipt of the complaint. |
80.001F | provides the Board of Directors with copies of this notification to the sponsor. |
80.001G | may request further information or materials relative to the allegations from the complainant, sponsor, program, or other relevant sources. |
80.001H | provides the sponsor/program response to the Board of Directors who consider the allegations and all relevant information obtained in the course of investigation and formulate an appropriate action according to the following guidelines: |
i. if the allegations are determined to be unrelated to the relevant accreditation standards or established accreditation policies or without merit, the chief executive officer of the sponsor, program director, and complainant are notified of this determination within ten (10) business days of the Board’s decision; | |
ii. if the investigation reveals that the allegations are determined to be related to relevant accreditation standards or established accreditation policies, the JRCERT shall notify the program of this determination within ten (10) business days of the Board’s decision and advise that the program will be considered at the next scheduled board meeting agenda.

80.002A | where a complainant has threatened or filed legal action in a court of law or before a governmental agency against a program or institution housing said program, the JRCERT reserves the right to hold such complaint in abeyance until after the later of a final judgment by a court of law or governmental agency or finalization of any appeal of such judgment. |
80.004A | at any time following receipt of a complaint, designates the Chief Executive Officer, with the consent of the Board Chair, to authorize an unannounced site visit based on the severity of allegations without prior notification to the program of such allegations. |
