Letter from the Chair . . . .
The Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) is responsible for
assuring that educational programs in the radiologic sciences are providing quality
education for their students and that the integrity of those programs is not compromised.
Recognition by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher
Education Accreditation as the only programmatic accreditation agency for radiography,
radiation therapy, medical dosimetry and magnetic resonance allows us to demonstrate
that responsibility to the programs, the students, and the profession.
The central topics addressed in 2019 that promoted our core values were:
• Received feedback and comments regarding the second and third drafts of the
revised Standards from communities of interest. The third draft was approved in
April and posted in July. Feedback was again requested and the JRCERT Board will

vote on the final draft in April 2020. The new Standards will be implemented in
January 2021. The JRCERT Board and staff attended several state, regional, and
national professional society meetings to discuss the proposed revisions. The
JRCERT thanks all of those who provided the organization with valuable feedback
throughout the Standards revision process.
• In conjunction with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and
the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), the JRCERT Board
Chair and Chief Executive Officer met with several radiologic science organizations
to discuss ‘The Future of the Radiographer’.
• Represented the JRCERT at the ACERT, ASRT, AEIRS, AHRA, AAMD,
and Radiation Therapist conferences.
• Implemented minor changes to the Accreditation Management System (AMS) and
began to design and develop significant upgrades to assure future functionality.
• Conducted accreditation seminars, outcomes assessment workshops, and site visitor
workshops.
th
• Presented the JRCERT 50 Anniversary Excellence in Education Conference
in November 2019.
• Met in December with ASRT and ACR representatives during RSNA to
discuss current issues in the profession.
The JRCERT Board of Directors and staff continued to work persistently over the past
year to assure that the mission of the JRCERT is never compromised and is proactive to
the needs of our programs and the professional community. The support of the
educational institutions that house radiologic science programs and our communities of
interest allow us to continue providing oversight of quality programs that produce quality
employees, thus meeting the needs of the profession now and in the future. On behalf of
the JRCERT Directors and staff, I want to thank you for your continued support of
programmatic accreditation.
