Standard Five: Health and Safety

5.2 The program assures each energized laboratory is in compliance with
applicable state and/or federal radiation safety laws.

Explanation:
Compliance with applicable laws promotes a safe environment for students and others. Records of
compliance must be maintained for the program’s energized laboratories.

Required Program Response:

• Provide certificates and/or letters for each energized laboratory documenting compliance with
state and/or federal radiation safety laws.

Possible Site Visitor Evaluation Methods:

• Review of published program materials
• Review of compliance records
• Interviews with faculty
