Letter from the Chair . . . .
Message from the Chair of the Board
For more than 40 years the JRCERT has
promoted excellence in radiologic sciences
education and is the gold standard for
programmatic accreditation. We have a
tremendous responsibility to the public to
ensure radiologic sciences professionals provide the best patient care and safety
possible. In an age of increasingly complex rules and regulations regarding
healthcare, we strive to make the function of the JRCERT as transparent as
possible. In a retrospective look at 2013, the key activities undertaken by the
JRCERT were as follows:
The JRCERT Board of Directors adopted a revision of the Standards, following input
from various communities of interest. The implementation date was January 1, 2014.
The JRCERT was granted continued recognition by the United States Department of
Education (USDE).
The JRCERT received notice from the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
(CHEA) that it approved the JRCERT’s application to be considered for continued CHEA
recognition. The JRCERT will come before the CHEA Committee on Recognition in June,
2014.
The JRCERT participated in the ASRT’s Leadership Academy for Educators.
The JRCERT presented lectures on various accreditation issues at various state and
national professional meetings.
The JRCERT conducted accreditation seminars and outcomes assessment and site visitor
workshops.
The JRCERT Board of Directors and staff remain committed to the JRCERT
mission. Our work and fulfillment of this mission are made possible by the
service of our volunteer site visitors and the professional community’s support of
programmatic accreditation. On behalf of the JRCERT directors and staff, I
extend our thanks and appreciation to our programs for continuing to support our
mission, “to promote excellence in education and to elevate the quality and safety
of patient care through accreditation of educational programs in radiography,
radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, and medical dosimetry.”
